Sub-sect of Tribes of the Seasons
The Blighted Grove rejects the comfortable idea that the natural world must look pristine to be sacred. Where other Tribes find the cycle in forests and fields, the Blighted Grove finds it in irradiated craters, polluted rivers, and mutated growths pushing through cracked asphalt. The cycle of the seasons, they hold, is a universal force that transcends any particular landscape. It endures everywhere, even in places that would kill the unprepared, and survival in those harshest of environments is proof of life's persistence.
Members of the Blighted Grove see radiation, pollution, and even Infection not as forces separate from the seasons but as part of their progression. Where others see corruption, the Grove sees transformation. Where others fear decay, they see the groundwork for renewal. Their rituals are grim and practical, including meditative exposure to irradiated environments and the celebration of "concrete blooms," the vines overtaking abandoned structures and fungi sprouting from irradiated ruins that serve as proof of the cycle's reach into places that would seem beyond its power.
To many within the Tribes, the Blighted Grove might belong better with the Darwinists, if it were not for a critical distinction. There is no concept of "advancement" in their faith. History
The Blighted Grove formed within the Tribes of the Season from members who refused to limit the cycle's reach to green and untouched landscapes. They developed a practice centered on irradiated wastelands and industrial ruins, arguing that the seasons govern all spaces without exception. Their rituals of meditative exposure and celebration of mutated growth established them as one of the Tribes' most unusual subsects, distinct from Darwinist philosophy by their lack of any concept of advancement. The cycle, in their view, does not evolve. It persists.
