Chaplain Erica Steelframe
Tightly cropped hair. Leathery skin. Lean muscles wound like a coiled suspension. Chaplain Erica Steelframe looks like someone who would start a bar brawl, not lead a religious movement. That impression is not entirely wrong; it is merely incomplete.
Steelframe commands Ziegfield's Wall, a mobile force of Diesel Jocks devoted to the Cult of the Fallow Hopes, operating through the Smoking Tops mountain range. The terrain there kills the unprepared: poisonous gases, burning rivers, ground that can swallow a vehicle whole. Steelframe and her people thrive in it, using the horror of the landscape as cover for their swarms of treaded Iron Horse rides.
She married Joanna, and together they organize their tribe with a methodology that observers have described as hovering between insanity and brilliance. The numbers bear out the brilliance: outsider Diesel Jock tribes are absorbed into the fold daily, willingly or otherwise. Those that will not convert are raided until submission or dissolution becomes the only options remaining. Steelframe does not accept weakness, softness, or forgiveness in her ranks. Her position on redemption for heretics is direct: for a heretic to be worthy of a second chance, they need to survive being dragged by an Iron Horse for a mile up the side of a volcano. The ones who survive earn their place. The rest were not meant for the faith.
The Wall is not her final objective. Steelframe is building an army, and when the army is large enough, it will ride to join the Retribution Outpost for the siege of Vegasia. Every absorbed tribe, every captured vehicle, every convert dragged screaming to devotion is another step toward that reckoning.
