Moss Family

Friendly, self-reliant, and always happy to share a meal. The Moss family fits into any farming community in the wastes like they were born there, because most of them were. Composed primarily of Landsmen, they carry the brash humor and rural pragmatism of people who work the soil for a living. Neighbors know them as good folk. Neighbors are not entirely wrong.
Behind the farmhouse charm, the Moss family produces some of the Silenced Knell's most effective killers. They favor sniper rifles for distance work and blades for closer encounters. Poison is the one method they will never use, and the reason is purely practical: it could harm the pigs. The pigs are essential. Every Moss homestead raises them, and the livestock serves a dual purpose that no visitor is meant to discover. What the family kills, the pigs consume. Bones, flesh, evidence. Nothing remains.
The family's cover is their greatest weapon. A Moss operative can train for years in a community without raising a single suspicion, because the persona is not a disguise. They genuinely are the cheerful neighbor with the vegetable garden and the muddy boots. The rifle hidden beneath the floorboards is simply the other half of who they are.
Initiation is called the First Barbecue. A new member kills their first target, and the family throws a celebration. The meat served at that party is the target's flesh. The bones go to the pigs. By the time the fire burns down, the new member has crossed a line that cannot be uncrossed, and nothing edible has gone to waste.

Structure

The Moss Family operates within the Silenced Knell faction of Murder Inc, composed primarily of Landsmen who maintain the persona of simple country farmers. Members blend seamlessly into agricultural communities with brash humor and self-reliance, hiding their true nature behind an agrarian lifestyle. The family favors sniping and bladed kills as methods, with poison strictly forbidden because it could harm their pigs. The pigs themselves serve a dual purpose: livestock and a disposal method for the remains of victims.

Public Agenda

The Moss Family exists to kill targets while maintaining the cover of a farming community. Their mission is rural assassination: embed in the countryside as simple, hospitable farmers, execute contracts through sniping or bladed weapons, and dispose of the evidence through their pig operations. Poison is the one method they will never use, because the pigs come first. The family's loyalty is to Murder Inc and to the land they work, and their effectiveness depends on no one ever suspecting that the friendly neighbors with the good bacon have a second source of income.

History

The Moss Family carved out its niche within Murder Inc by recognizing that the countryside offered perfect cover for assassination. Composed primarily of Landsmen, the family built a network of farming operations that concealed a lethal purpose beneath the routine of rural life. They developed expertise in sniping and bladed weapons for the kills themselves, and pig farming for the disposal.
The family's initiation ritual, The First Barbecue, established the culture from the first kill onward: the new member must consume the flesh of their target at a celebratory party while the bones are fed to the pigs. This practice cemented the family's identity as something more disturbing than simple assassins. The Moss Family are charming country neighbors who maintain their cover through genuine agricultural work, genuine hospitality, and the knowledge that the pigs are always hungry.
Country farmers and snipers who hide their kills behind warm hospitality and feed the remains to pigs.
