Quiet Dock
Quiet Dock sits on the western shore of Cozumel, a series of long docks where Clean Fish Inc. keeps its boats. The name comes from its distance: just far enough from the parties of Fiesta Flat and the Church of the Parrot to be out of earshot. The foghorn does occasionally make it a misnomer, but most days the only sounds are rope creaking against cleats and the steady rhythm of fish being prepared for sale.
Each boat at Quiet Dock is owned by a boat master who commissions its building from scrap and old parts, claims a route, and takes a percentage of profits. It is a risky venture. Boats sometimes disappear on their maiden voyages, and the losses are marked with scrap headstones in a barren field near the shore. The workers who prepare fish beside the boat house supply the island and beyond through Clean Fish Inc.'s eastern coast trade routes. A weekly fish market gives Cozumel locals first pick of the freshest product, and that market day is the one time Quiet Dock is not quiet.
A field of generators engineered through trade with the Fuegos of Sinking City provides electricity for the island, freeing Clean Fish from dependence on the King on the Coast in Calli. Boat masters and workers on leave house themselves in two lines of shore homes fifty feet from the work site, the safest and most stable ocean-side structures on Cozumel. The dock is the economic engine of the island: steady, productive, and deliberately removed from the chaos that defines the rest of Prideland life.
