Traveler's Waystation
The Traveler's Waystation is a long, narrow building in Skatown that changes its purpose with the seasons. When the distant rumble of Diesel Jock engines signals the spring and summer trade season, the stalls go up, makeshift beds fill the floor, and the Waystation transforms into a crowded trading hub where townspeople exchange food for metal, farm tools, and the other supplies needed for the year ahead.
When autumn arrives and the caravans move on, the Waystation converts into a community gathering hall. A large fireplace anchors the winter space, providing warmth for town-wide celebrations of X-Mas and other Nuclear Family holidays. Marriage celebrations are held here during the dark winter evenings, where couples invite friends and family to drink, dance, and endure the darkest nights of the year together. The only building in Skatown that reinvents itself twice a year, the Waystation serves as both the settlement's commercial heart and its communal soul.
