Civil Corps
Sub-sect of Church of Darwin
Where the Church of Darwin preaches evolution in the abstract, the Civil Corps puts it to work with hammer and blade. They are the faith's martial and logistical backbone, members who hold that strength without purpose is just violence, and destruction without creation is just waste. Every fortification they raise, every patrol they run, every bridge they lay across a ruined highway serves the same conviction: society evolves when someone is willing to both defend it and build it up.
The Corps treats settlements as living organisms in need of both nourishment and protection. Their engineers shore up walls while their fighters hold the perimeter, and the two roles trade lessons freely. A failed defense becomes a construction problem; a collapsed structure becomes a tactical opportunity. Failure, to the Civil Corps, is not shame. It is data. Every mistake feeds the next adaptation.
What sets the Civil Corps apart (and occasionally makes them infuriating to everyone else) is their willingness to withhold support. If a settlement has grown complacent, if the broader Church has stopped solving its own problems, the Corps may simply decide the community "could use a good fight." Nothing will budge them when they have chosen stillness. But when the Civil Corps decides to move, very little in the wasteland will stop them.

Protect and strengthen Church of Darwin settlements through unified martial force and practical ingenuity. Every act of destruction must be paired with an act of creation. The Corps exists to ensure that society evolves even in the face of adversity, fortifying communities physically and strategically against the challenges of the wasteland.
History
The Civil Corps emerged within the Church of Darwin as a natural extension of its belief that evolution demands varied approaches. Members who saw no separation between protecting a settlement and improving it gravitated toward one another, forming a subsect dedicated to the principle that resilience and progress are inseparable. Their role as protectors and builders became a defining specialization within the faith, acknowledged with their own iconography displayed alongside the Church's primary symbols at holy sites.
