A fleet of salvage vessels lashed together over a fortune in sunken treasure, controlled by one man who decides who dives and who pays. The Conch Battalion is Captain Vincent Douglas's personal enterprise, operated from his flagship the Scarlet Rose and sustained by the coral-encrusted underwater ruins beneath the fleet's anchorage.
Douglas selects his crew from the best Salt Wise and Bay Walkers available, maintaining a strict hierarchy with himself at the apex. Underlings demand docking fees from any vessel approaching the fleet, and unauthorized scavengers are dealt with severely. The recovered goods move through Skidaway Harbor for sale in Savage Anna, a supply chain that generates enough wealth to keep the Captain's authority unquestioned by most of the crew.
Most, but not all. Dissension has been growing in the ranks, and increasing Siren activity around the fleet's anchorage threatens the diving operations that sustain the entire enterprise.
