Grigg
Grigg grew up in the Rat King's Kingdom as one of many Lascarian siblings competing for scraps of parental attention. Their sister became a trusted army scout. Their brother learned to navigate the waterways at night. Grigg never found a purpose that earned recognition, only a persistent sense of falling short.
What they did find was an affinity for taking things apart. They worked as a butcher for a time, gutting fish and animals with a precision that felt natural. The transition from butchery to interrogation was shorter than most would like to admit. When Captain William Palmer's soldiers captured a New Kingdom spy and could not extract information, Grigg stepped forward and asked for a chance. Five minutes later, the spy had told everything. Palmer was the only person who had ever given Grigg a real opportunity, and Grigg repaid that debt with absolute loyalty.
From that point forward, Grigg served as Palmer's personal interrogator and torturer within the Knights of the Rat King. They carried a knife and their tools at all times, walked with a small hunch that disguised how fast they could move, and wore dark goggles that hid whatever satisfaction the work provided. The only piece of the Knights' uniform they bothered with was a red hat. The rest of their clothing stayed tattered.
Intercepted letters between Palmer and his lieutenants later named Grigg as a field agent being sent to infiltrate rebellious settlements. The work that Grigg did best was always done up close.
