Sub-sect of Tribes of the Seasons
The Hemlock Society has looked at the wasteland, looked at the cycle, and arrived at a conclusion that makes the rest of the Tribes profoundly uncomfortable: the apocalypse was not a disaster. It was nature's final act of balance, meant to sweep away what was broken and begin anew. Humanity's continued survival is the aberration, a stubborn refusal to let the cycle complete its work. The seasons will eventually correct this, erasing what remains of the current age and returning the world to balance.
What makes the Hemlock Society more than a death cult is their response to this belief. If all things are destined to fall to ash and memory is meaningless in the face of eternity, then every individual is free to act without consequence. "Nothing matters, so everything can." This paradoxical creed gives members a liberation that others find unsettling: they laugh in the face of despair, mock the absurdity of striving for permanence, and live with a detached purposefulness that defies easy categorization. They are neither nihilists nor zealots, exactly. They are something in between that the wasteland has not quite found a name for.
Members gather in decayed and ruined places for Shadow Rites, meditating on the inevitability of collapse. They respond to despair with dark humor, the Laughter of Lament, a defiant act against the meaningless struggle to survive. Their central symbol is the Empty Circle, drawn in coal and carbon, representing the void at the heart of all existence. Around it they gather, reflect, and reaffirm that the cycle will, in its own time, return all things to balance. Until then, they intend to enjoy the interim.

History
The Hemlock Society formed within the Tribes of the Season from those who followed the cycle's logic to its bleakest conclusion: that the apocalypse was nature's intended correction and humanity's continued existence is an aberration the seasons will eventually resolve. They built a philosophy of nihilistic liberation around this belief, developing rituals that honor the slow decay of the world and finding freedom in the acceptance of inevitable futility.
