Paradise Acres

At the end of the ash-gray path through the center of the Wildfire Wastes, where the jungle parts into a clearing burned and rebuilt by human effort, Paradise Acres stretches a handful of miles in either direction. The ashen earth left by the Burners creates exceptional growing conditions, and the farm produces staggering quantities of food in all seasons. Cows the size of small shacks graze in oversized pastures. Chickens large enough to be mistaken for hunting dogs scratch at the soil. A herd of rideable goats, which founder Lucky Jim claims are better than any iron horse, wander the perimeter.
  The farm is surrounded on all sides by encroaching Overgrowth, and the Burners maintain the perimeter constantly. The jungle pushes against the cleared zone with a relentlessness that borders on intent, and every day the line between cultivated land and wild growth must be defended with fire and blade. A small community has bloomed around the central plantation, most residents either working the farms or trained as Burners to hold the jungle back.
  Lucky Jim's optimism built Paradise Acres, and the Burners' fire sustains it, but rumors suggest the expansion has pushed too far outward. Old creatures and horrors that were better left buried in the deep jungle are being unearthed at the new edges. What those creatures are and what they might do when fully disturbed remain to be seen. The consequences of ambition in the Wildfire Wastes are rarely gentle.
