The Peach Tree Soda Company is a monopoly backed by law, sabotage, and a covert poison trade. Based in Peach Tree City, the Company dominates the brewing industry across the southern Rum Coast, producing massive quantities of hooch, brews, and snake oils that ship across the region via caravan companies. In Peach Tree City itself, competing brews are illegal, a law the Company pushed through political channels and defends with the threat of relocating its entire operation elsewhere.
Founded by Pure Blood master brewer George Whitehead as a small family business, the Company grew through aggressive acquisition. Whitehead bought out smaller breweries across the south, and those that refused to sell found their stills sabotaged and their batches spoiled. The legitimate side of the operation is impressive enough: the finest brews on the Rum Coast, distribution networks spanning the region, and enough economic weight to dictate terms to city governments. The illegitimate side is darker. The Witch Doctors supply poisons and dubious substances from the Everforest swamps, carted out in unmarked vials by boat, and the Company provides those poisons to unspecified organizations willing to pay.
Only the Moonshiners of the Rollin Hills have resisted the Company's expansion, hiding their stills where Company hunters cannot find them and delivering cheaper product under cover of darkness via the river rapids.
