Scraptionists

The geometric tattoos cover them from scalp to sole, precise angular patterns that look less like decoration and more like a language written on skin. They carry primitive weapons: clubs, spears, blades of chipped stone and sharpened bone. They worship a sky god whose name outsiders have not been able to record, because the Scraptionists do not negotiate, do not take prisoners, and do not leave survivors to carry messages.
Scraptionists are primitive naturalist raiders who view the machines of the modern age as an affront to their deity. Everything mechanical is an enemy. Convoys are ambushed and burned. Racing vehicles are targeted with the single-minded focus of true believers destroying heresy. Dieseljock rest stops are raided, gutted, and set ablaze as blood offerings to whatever watches from above. The attacks follow commonly traveled routes, which means the Scraptionists study traffic patterns despite despising the machines that create them. Zealotry does not preclude tactical intelligence.
What makes them terrifying beyond the ambushes and the unbreakable conviction is the immunity. Scraptionists are completely, inexplicably proof against Faith-based attacks. Prayers, blessings, consecrated strikes; none of it touches them. Scholars and theologians across the wasteland have offered theories ranging from divine protection to psionic resistance to the possibility that their sky god is real and paying attention. Nobody has produced a satisfying answer. The Scraptionists are not interested in explaining themselves, and asking them is not an option that includes survival.

Basic Information

Ecology and Habitats

Scraptionists operate throughout Vegasian territory, setting ambushes along commonly traveled routes and targeting anything associated with mechanical technology. Their primary victims are Dieseljock convoys, racing vehicles, and the rest stops that service road traffic, making them an outsized threat to the region's transportation infrastructure.
Their tactical method involves studying traffic patterns and positioning ambush sites where convoy speed is lowest or visibility most restricted. The Signal Hunters among them possess an uncanny ability to detect and track radio equipment, which means that electronic communication near Scraptionist territory is both a lifeline and a beacon. Their balanced physical capabilities and absolute immunity to Faith-based attacks make them a more versatile threat than their primitive weapons would suggest. They have no known territory of their own; they exist in the spaces between other communities, destroying what their god finds offensive and vanishing into the desert when the burning is done.
