Snake's Head Inn

The Snake's Head Inn is the only place near the Oaken Swamp where travelers can find a bed for the night. Built of moldy wood and sheet metal on the swamp's outskirts, the inn provides basic lodging for Gator Hunters, traders, and anyone passing through the area who values sleeping behind walls over sleeping in a boat. The accommodations are sparse; this is not a place that aspires to comfort, only to the absence of immediate mortal danger.
One of three small outposts serving the Oaken Swamp, the Snake's Head Inn fills a practical need that no other establishment in the area addresses. Without overnight lodging, hunters and traders would have no safe place to rest between expeditions into the dangerous swamp interior. The creatures that stalk the swamp after dark make sleeping in the open a gamble with terrible odds, and the inn exists because someone recognized that even the toughest Gator Hunter needs to close their eyes eventually.
The name is appropriate. The things outside sleep lighter than the people inside, and the swamp does not pause its business because the sun goes down.
