The Commission
The Commission is a Darwinist scientific body in May Cape formed to catalog the effects of radiation exposure on the local population. They have diagnosed over three hundred cases, and their findings paint a picture that most wasteland communities would rather not examine too closely: the majority of documented effects are beneficial. Working additional appendages, psionic powers, functional animal-like deformities. Radiation poisoning and sickness occur in rare instances, but the positive cases vastly outnumber the negative ones.
The problem is the researchers themselves. The Commission appears to be composed entirely of Darwinist scientists who are heavily irradiated, which raises obvious questions about objectivity. Outside organizations have been consulted and have claimed the results are well-founded, but those same organizations tend to leave May Cape with suspiciously large bags clattering with credits. Whether the science is sound and the payments are coincidental, or the data is cooked and the auditors are bought, depends entirely on how much faith one places in the objectivity of people who glow brighter than their data.
