Wayward House
The Wayward House looms over Yellstown Settlement, a ramshackle three-story wooden building that is one of the oldest structures in the region. It started as a single-story house with a basement, built by the Wayward family who traded with Big Sky Ranch for their livelihood. During a harsh winter storm, the family nearly starved. Rumors say they ate their youngest son to survive. What happened next was worse.
The oldest Wayward child ventured into the Bleeding Depths and encountered the Unborn of Poisoned Thorn. He returned changed, carrying rituals that had no place in a farming town. He began conducting strange ceremonies and gathering followers, expanding the house to two stories, then three, adding rooms and floors to shelter the growing cult. The cult master eventually died and many followers drifted away, but a few remained to maintain the rituals. The house has since been expanded into a monstrosity with an indoor kitchen, multiple bedrooms, and common rooms, all creaking under the weight of wood that should have collapsed years ago.
The Wayward Sons cult remains active within its walls. Its members are civil in town during business hours, giving the locals little cause for open confrontation. Strange noises during the full moon and occasional screams of possible sacrifice victims are reported but largely ignored. The townsfolk of Yellstown know better than to ask what happens inside, and the Wayward House does not volunteer answers.
