Williamspoint Defense Corps
The Williamspoint Defense Corps is the military arm of the Williamspoint Red Star commune in northern Brooklyn. Originally an informal militia of anyone willing to fight, the WDC was formalized after the creation of its signature innovation: the Zombie Facade Zone, a three-block-deep defensive perimeter that uses controlled undead populations to create the illusion of heavy infestation and discourage external threats from approaching the commune.
The ZFZ was devised by Shepard, a promising young leader of the WDC. The outer barricades contain Shamblers, while chained Bursters and Tanks are positioned for realistic appearance and prey capture. Disinformation spreads through neighboring territories that the area is completely overrun. The deception is enhanced by a peculiarity of Red Star undead behavior: Red Star zed do not attack their originating cell. WDC members who died building the perimeter became part of the defense, their reanimated bodies patrolling alongside the other undead without threatening the commune's living inhabitants.
Shepard has since fled the commune for unknown reasons, but the defense plan remains in use and the commune continues to grow. The main strategic problem facing the WDC is the need to extend the southern perimeter through territory occupied by the Brokeland Bowl Nuclear Family settlement. Negotiations have been met with violence and threats of exile. The architect is gone, but the design endures, and the chained dead keep watch over a community that thrives behind a wall of walking corpses.
