Wulfe Family

When something crawls out of the grave that should not exist, the word goes out: send in the wolves.
The Wulfe family hunts monstrosities, creatures spawned by Graverobber experimentation or birthed from concentrations of psionic energy too dense for the world to contain. They travel as a pack, moving together across the wastes with the coordinated instinct of predators on a scent. Each member wears a wolf insignia somewhere on their person, and their clothing is built for pursuit through hostile terrain rather than settlement life.
Their belts carry rows of vials and bottles containing brews designed to attract or repel the undead. Some draw the dead closer, pulling creatures into ambush range. Others drive them screaming away, clearing ground when the pack needs to reposition. The chemistry is precise and jealously guarded.
The Wulfe recruit experienced hunters and wasteland survivors first, people who already know how to track and kill. The Mortis Amaranthine comes later. Survival skills are the foundation; understanding the grave is the refinement built on top.
Initiation is the Grave Dive. New recruits are taken into the Mortis Amaranthine through specialized rituals, where they must defend themselves against attacks from their own mentors. These assaults can be physical, emotional, psychological, or all three at once. The family does not make it fair. Mentors deliberately ply initiates with alcohol, drugs, or exhaustion before the dive begins, and the initiation date is never announced in advance. You find out you are being tested when the ground opens beneath you and your teachers come for your throat.

Structure

The Wulfe Family operates as a mobile pack, traveling together across the wastes to track and eliminate their quarry. Members wear a wolf insignia somewhere on their person to show family allegiance. The family recruits experienced hunters and wasteland survivors first, then teaches them the Mortis Amaranthine afterward. Each member carries vials and bottles with brews designed to attract or repel undead, dressed in clothing suited to pursuing quarry through hostile terrain.

Public Agenda

Hunt and destroy the monstrosities spawned by rogue practitioners and psionic concentrations. The Wulfe Family tracks its quarry across the wastes as a coordinated pack, carrying brews that draw the dead closer or drive them screaming away.

History

The Wulfe Family established itself within the Watch of the Bone Chapel as specialist hunters of the monstrosities created by rogue Graverobbers or spawned by the presence of too many psions in an area. Where other Bone Chapel families target specific types of threats, the Wulfe Family hunts the creatures themselves: the physical horrors that slip beyond their creators' control.
Their initiation ritual reflects the family's philosophy. New members are taken into the Mortis Amaranthine through unique grave dive rituals where they must defend themselves against attacks from their own mentors. These attacks may be physical, emotional, or psychological. Mentors deliberately disadvantage initiates beforehand with alcohol, drugs, or exhaustion before the unannounced initiation date. Survivors join the pack. Those who do not survive learn how close the Mortis always is.
