Black Pyramid

A massive metal framework in the shape of a pyramid, painted black with pitch and paint, the Black Pyramid dominates the Vegas City skyline as the headquarters of the Final Knights. Based on the design of a pre-fall structure, its blackened metal exterior heats to lethal temperatures under the desert sun. Prisoners are chained by arms or legs and pushed out of hatches near the Pyramid's zenith, and as dawn breaks the sun cooks them alive on the blistering surface. This is both punishment and theological statement: the sun, which other faiths revere as a symbol of life, becomes proof of the old gods' hatred.
Within the massive metal shell is a courtyard containing a second structure: a pyramid made of stone. The thick plate exterior blocks all sunlight, keeping the inner pyramid in perpetual darkness while a complex ventilation system renders the interior remarkably cold. Inside, dozens of blasphemous monks work tirelessly copying the scriptures of the damned. Hundreds of sleeping chambers, torture rooms, ritual rooms, and libraries fill the spaces between the walls, and frankincense and the sweet smell of burnt flesh permeates every stone and piece of hanging fabric. In the very deepest portions, the Soulless Pharaoh orchestrates the faith's operations from a ritual space that no outsider has ever seen.

Hazards & Traps

The exterior metal surface reaches lethal temperatures under the Vegas sun, and prisoners chained to the structure die slowly of heat exposure. No outsider has ever been seen entering or exiting; only inner-circle Final Knights know the hidden routes inside. The interior houses active torture chambers, armed templar, and the Soulless Pharaoh himself. The Pyramid's most public threat is its use as a display of power: over one hundred captives were found chained to its exterior walls on the morning the Final Knights revealed their rule over Vegasia.
