Crow Eaters
Sub-sect of Tribes of the Seasons
The Crow Eaters are drawn to the battlefield the way crows are drawn to carrion: inevitably, unapologetically, and with sacred purpose. Devoted to the cycles of Autumn's harvest and Winter's reckoning, they embody the harsh truth that death and destruction are not endings but necessary steps in the cycle of renewal. Every clash is an offering, every corpse a gift, and every fallen enemy a step toward the balance the seasons demand.
These warriors adorn themselves with crow skulls, feathers, and blackened armor, warding off death's grasp while declaring their devotion to the hunt. Their rituals are brutal and unapologetic. After every battle, the Crow Eaters leave the fallen (friend and foe) where they lie, believing the crows will carry their spirits to the turning wheel of the seasons. The arrival of the birds is seen as a divine blessing, confirmation that the cycle has accepted their offering.
When the seasons turn to Autumn and Winter, the Crow Eaters descend upon settlements in or near conflict with unmatched ferocity, driven by the belief that the crows must be sated. During Autumn, they participate in the Blood Harvest, a ceremonial battle where blood from the fallen is collected and burned. In Winter, they embark on the Long Hunt, tracking and eliminating those they see as disruptors of the cycle: hoarders, oppressors, and the faithless. Their feathers are woven into cloaks and banners at the end of each season, each one a record of the cost the cycle demands.
