General Clarity Ward

General Clarity Ward learned the military trade from the worst possible vantage point: the bottom. Inside the Ironworks, she dug latrines, set up tents, and hauled supplies for the encampments that kept the slave system running. She watched how units were organized, how officers gave orders, how logistics moved through the machine. She absorbed everything.
When Raymore Diggins helped her escape, she took that knowledge with her.
After reaching safety, Clarity and a group of freed Irons made a decision: they would never be subjugated again, and the way to guarantee that was strength. They began training in combat, and what started as self-defense grew into something larger. The Iron Forge became a militaristic mercenary group with its own rank structure. Recruits started at the bottom and worked their way up to Soldier, then Captain. Clarity took the title of General and led from the front.
The Iron Forge accepted all Strains and people from all backgrounds, but it had one rule that was not negotiable: it would never accept contracts from the Ironworks or anyone sympathetic to slavery. The group maintained close ties with the Uprising but operated independently, hiring out units for jobs across the wasteland.
When the Ironworks discovered the Iron Forge's encampment during the occupation, Clarity faced a choice. If the fighters evacuated, the Ironworks would know someone had tipped them off, and the entire plan to intercept the Nuke would collapse. She ordered most of her people to withdraw and stayed behind with a volunteer force to be killed, making the Ironworks believe the resistance cell had been wiped out. The scene was brutal and deliberate. She did not ask anyone to stay who was not willing, and she did not exempt herself.
She recovered afterward and returned for the final uprising, leading Iron Forge fighters alongside the settlement's inhabitants. After the victory, she made clear that the Iron Forge would continue as its own mercenary company, sympathetic to the Uprising but no longer attached to it. They would forge their own path.
Iron mercenary leader and founder of the Iron Forge. Escaped Ironworks servitude with help from Raymore Diggins and built a fighting force that would never serve the slavers again.
