Herder Raiders
Herder Raiders do not fight settlements. They let the dead do it for them.
Operating inland across the Georgiabama region, far from the Rum Coast shores, the Herders have discovered a method for weaponizing the undead. They slaughter Gun Monkeys for their offal, mix it with fermenting herbs, and produce a substance whose stench attracts every shambling corpse within range. The fastest runners in the clan soak rags in the concoction, bind them to javelin shafts, and hurl them onto the rooftops of farming settlements. Then they wait.
The undead arrive within hours. The settlers fight, flee, or die. The Herders wait at a safe distance, their own bodies saturated with the substance to such a degree that the zombies register them as one of their own roughly half the time. When the settlement is cleared, the raiders walk in and harvest the crops. They are primarily non-meat eaters, raiding for agricultural produce rather than flesh, which makes their methods a peculiar intersection of vegetarian dietary preference and biological warfare. The sweet-rot smell on the wind and the sudden arrival of undead near a farming community are the signature. By the time the javelins are in the rooftops, the clock is already running.
