Rad Yote

At night, they look like sick stars fallen to earth. Pockmarks of sickly yellow light moving low to the ground in the irradiated wastes, weaving between rocks and scrub brush in patterns that seem almost playful. The Rad Yote's patchy fur gives off a bioluminescent glow that makes each animal visible from a distance after dark, which should make them easy to avoid. It does not. By the time the lights are visible, the pack has already circled.
Rad Yotes hunt in packs of three, six, or nine, using coordinated circling tactics that compress the available escape routes until there are none. They are taller than most dogs, their heads reaching above a grown man's waist, with narrow frames mounted on impossibly long legs built for sustained pursuit rather than ambush. Their teeth glow with the same sickly luminescence as their fur, and the infections those teeth carry are as dangerous as the bite itself, comparable to a Septic Zed's touch. The pack moves its prey into a tightening ring, and once the ring closes, the yotes take turns darting in, snapping, retreating. They toy with their food. The hoarse yipping that echoes through the evening as they close in has become one of the most dreaded sounds in the irradiated wastelands.
During the day, the Rad Yote becomes something else entirely. Direct sunlight triggers a translucency in their skin and fur that renders them nearly invisible, little more than a heat shimmer moving between rocky outcrops. They use this to rest, hide, and occasionally hunt targets who believe daylight makes them safe. The wasteland teaches that lesson quickly: visible at night when you cannot escape them, invisible during the day when you think you are safe. The Rad Yote is built for a world that does not play fair, because the irradiated wastes that spawned it never did.
