Teotihuacan
We need no wall of scrap and no lake to protect us. These grounds are blessed.
In the northern Prideland wastes, the ancient Aztec temple complex of Teotihuacan stands as it did before the bombs fell, or close enough that the people who live here say the gods blessed it. Four great temples line the Avenue of the Dead, their stone pyramids connected by the wide ceremonial road. A Tribe of Seasons resettled the irradiated site, and from these temples they built a community unlike anything else in the Pridelands.
Leadership rotates by celestial body. The Sun tribe leads during daylight: the largest group, they farm the crop fields to the east, work the forge on one of the pyramid's upper levels, and labor without complaint because complaining is a sign of weakness. The Moon tribe takes charge at night, responsible for introspection, wisdom, and food storage through a refrigeration system in the lower levels. The Jaguars lead outside the walls as hunters. The Quetzalcoatl warriors defend the city from the infected.
The Avenue of the Dead is well-named. Infected pile into it from the wilds on the worst nights. But the pyramids' steep tiered plateaus offer excellent positions for archers and snipers. Beneath the temples, the underground river Aztel flows south, a reminder that life can persist below even when the surface burns. The system works because no tribe holds power too long and each depends on the others.

History
The Aztecs built Teotihuacan as a place where gods visited the earth. The temples survived the nuclear bombings. Nomadic people seeking shelter resettled the temples and organized themselves into a Tribe of Seasons with celestial-based leadership rotating between Sun, Moon, Jaguar, and Quetzalcoatl tribes.
Geography
