Thrill Kill Raider
They live next door. They share meals, pull guard shifts, tell jokes by the fire. They remember how to laugh, how to hold a conversation, how to be the kind of person you stop worrying about after the first few weeks. For most of the month, a Thrill Kill Raider is indistinguishable from any other rough-edged survivor in the settlement. The deception is not an act they maintain through effort. It is what they are, twenty-six days out of thirty.
Then the moon turns.
Thrill Kill Raiders are the infiltrators of the Infected Raider subspecies: former Lineages corrupted by Bad Brain disease who retain full social functionality and cognitive capability for the majority of the lunar cycle. During new moon and full moon phases, the Raider nature surfaces. Control collapses. The neighbor who helped repair the south wall last week is now hunting the settlement from the inside, and the kills are not quick.
Pain is the art form. Thrill Kill Raiders do not simply eliminate targets. They engineer suffering, drawing out the process for maximum effect. The kill itself is secondary to the experience of inflicting it. Victims are found with signs of deliberate, prolonged torment rather than efficient violence. The sadism is not incidental; it is the defining behavioral trait, the thing that Bad Brain carved into whatever was left of their personality.
The calm phase is nearly perfect. Feign Mediocrity suppresses outward Raider traits. Wolf Among Sheep allows them to exist within and move through Lineage communities without triggering the instinctive responses that expose other Infected types. They can maintain relationships, fulfill social roles, and pass every casual test of normalcy. The deception breaks only under specific conditions: the lunar trigger, or direct confrontation that pierces the veneer.
What makes Thrill Kill Raiders uniquely devastating is that the threat comes from inside the walls. A settlement can fortify against external assault. It can post guards, build barricades, establish perimeters. None of that helps when the danger is already sitting at the common table, smiling, waiting for the moon to change.

Basic Information
Anatomy
During the calm phase, a Thrill Kill Raider presents as a feral Tainted: rough around the edges, perhaps a little wild in the eyes, but passably civilized. The body carries the general wear of wasteland life without the grotesque mutations of Aberrant types or the visible necrosis of other Infected. Bad Brain's physical markers are subtle enough to disappear among a population accustomed to seeing scars, calloused skin, and the general damage of survival.
The transition is visible if you know what to look for. When the moon triggers the rampage phase, the disguise fractures. The eyes change first: a sadistic gleam that replaces the carefully maintained normalcy. Movement becomes erratic and animalistic, shifting between predatory stillness and explosive bursts of repositioning. The body language drops every pretense of civilization and reveals what was always underneath.
The physical frame is human-sized and unremarkable. That is the point. Every aspect of the Thrill Kill Raider's appearance is optimized for blending in, for being the person nobody looks at twice, for occupying the blind spot that trust creates in a community that needs to believe its members are safe.

Biological Traits
The Infected Raider skill set provides the foundation for the Thrill Kill's most dangerous capability: deception. Feign Mediocrity suppresses outward Raider traits, making detection through casual observation nearly impossible. Wolf Among Sheep allows movement through Lineage communities without triggering defensive responses. Cannibalism (Triggered Memories) and Tainted Kin round out the Infected suite.
Educated Threat demonstrates knowledge and capability beyond what a mindless Raider should possess, reflecting the retained cognitive function from the pre-infection Lineage life. Resolve Threat allows the Thrill Kill to end confrontations through force of presence, a useful tool for a predator that prefers to avoid exposure until the lunar trigger fires.
Rank 1 uses a card-based system rather than standard Body and Armor values, reflecting the Thrill Kill's social encounter design. Rank 2 introduces conventional stat blocks with 50 to 60 Body and 25 to 30 Armor across Soldier and Medic variants. Rank 3 Farmer and Scavenger variants maintain similar profiles. The names themselves (Soldier, Medic, Farmer, Scavenger) are deliberate: these are the roles the Thrill Kill fills within the settlement during its calm phase, the disguises that become stat block identifiers.
Like all Infected Raiders, Thrill Kill Raiders can pass through the Mortis Amaranthine, though the passage is chaotic and leaves disease behind. Death is not permanent for them, which means a settlement that discovers and eliminates a Thrill Kill may not have solved the problem permanently.

Behaviour
The lunar cycle governs everything. For most of the month, the Thrill Kill Raider maintains control. It works, socializes, builds trust, and observes. The observation is the part that matters. During the calm phase, the Raider is cataloging: who is vulnerable, who is isolated at night, who trusts it enough to be alone with it. The preparation is not always conscious. Sometimes it looks like genuine friendship. Whether any of it is real is a question that survives the answer.
During new moon and full moon phases, control collapses. The predatory instincts surface and override the social machinery. The Thrill Kill hunts within the community it has infiltrated, targeting those around it with an intimate knowledge of their habits, their routines, and their trust. The kills are prolonged and sadistic. Pain is the primary driver, not sustenance, not territory, not even the biological hatred of Infection carriers that motivates other Raider types. The Thrill Kill inflicts suffering because the act of inflicting it is the compulsion Bad Brain installed.
The sadistic tendency creates a paradox. By drawing out kills for maximum suffering, the Thrill Kill gives victims time to call for help, to fight back, to potentially survive long enough for rescue. The need to prolong the experience works against the predator's interest in remaining hidden. It is the closest thing to a weakness the lunar cycle permits.
