ABC Shipyard

The tall smoke stacks and scaffolding of the ABC Shipyard rise from the waterline on the lower east side of the Plunge, visible for miles and used by sailors as navigation landmarks. The massive brick and stone complex is thought to have once been a power plant, its aging walls and flat rooftops long since converted into workshops where Old York's maritime future is hammered, welded, and riveted together. Small docks and quays surround the building on every side, with salvaged and refurbished vessels tethered for repair or sale.

Vital Waters

The Shipyard is as vital as food and water to every waterfront gang in Old York. Any crew that sails needs hulls patched, keels reinforced, and new boats built from scratch. The docksider engineers and tinkers who work the yards are among the most sought-after specialists in the city, and the compound operates at full capacity day and night.

Shifting Guardians

For years, the Iron Cross mercenary company served as the Shipyard's hired guards, keeping the docksiders safe and the operations running. That arrangement ended when the MPYRE Dogs consolidated the local gangs of the lower east Plunge and took over protection duties around 108 to 110 DC. The docksiders now pay tribute to the Dogs, who mount counter-attacks against rival gangs attempting sabotage.
The threats are constant. Rival outfits try to torch workshops and sink boats on the ways, and the Tremors fire long-arcing rockets and mortars from across the water at vessels under construction. The smoke stacks keep burning regardless, because Old York cannot afford to let its only real shipyard go dark.
