Clarke Industries

Malcolm Clarke can often be seen hawking his collection from the trade bazaar in the Roar, waving his battered top hat at passers-by with the cheerful persistence of a man who knows exactly what he is selling. Clarke Industries dominates one block of the bazaar with tents and awnings housing customization bays, parts shops, and guides for hire to the Reno Auto Reserve. It is a sprawling operation, and behind the retail front lies the real business: archeological exploration of the Reserve's caches and iron horse graveyards.
The Clarke family fortune was originally built on pre-fall engineering and big industry. After the Fall, that expertise shifted to the racing circuit and Dieseljock caravan trade centered on the Reserve. Few outside the Dieseljock tribes know the locations of the best buried machines and hidden caches, but Malcolm Clarke has found them. His expert scavengers and archeologists hire out through Clarke Industries headquarters at hefty prices, and many racers and traders carry long-standing debts of service to the Clarke family as payment for expeditions that found them the machines they ride today.
Half the racers in Vegasia owe the Clarkes a favor they cannot repay. In the Badlands, where a good vehicle is the difference between life and a slow death under the sun, that kind of debt is worth more than credits.
