Hates

Most undead are predictable. Shamblers shamble. Ragers charge. Hates break the rhythm.
Fast-moving, intelligent, and stealthy, Hates are what happens when the Infection evolves a zombie past the point of mindless hunger into something that thinks. They prowl the ruined maze of the Brokelands around Hell's Gate with a purpose that standard undead do not possess. They do not shamble. They stalk.
Their intelligence manifests in target selection. Hates focus on isolated individuals and wounded groups. They track, they flank, they wait for the moment when the target is most exposed. Hates make decisions: reinforcements arrive to find the pursuit has evaporated, as though the Hates recognized that the odds had shifted and chose to withdraw.
They circle the Hell's Gate compound in patterns that resemble territorial patrol routes. Traveling in alert, coordinated groups remains the most effective countermeasure.
