Hell's Gate

Deep in the burned-out maze of the Brokelands, a three-story reinforced building rises above the surrounding ruins like a monument to cruelty. Hell's Gate is the stronghold of the 33rd Street Boys and the center of Final Knights activity in Old York. Its approach is unmistakable: dozens of bonfires blaze at outpost camps in a wide perimeter, and the heads of trespassers are impaled on the outer walls as both warning and decoration.
 

The Fortress

The interior walls are stained with blood that no one bothers to clean. The wails of prisoners carry on the wind for blocks, a constant reminder of the dark rites performed within. The Final Knights use the central structure as a focus for their blasphemous rituals, and their priests reside in the upper floors. Prisoners are kept for years, subjected to torments that fuel the Knights' devotion. The most devoted among the gang partake in blood rites that bind them closer to whatever power they serve.
 

The Hates

The ruins surrounding Hell's Gate harbor something worse than common undead. Intelligent, stealthy evolved creatures known as Hates stalk the jagged landscape of broken buildings and ample cover. These are not mindless shamblers; they watch, they wait, and they hunt with purpose. The terrain itself favors ambush, with sniping positions and blind corners in every direction.
  Hell's Gate's influence extends beyond the Brokelands. Three dozen of its "demons" were deployed to back the Dons' leadership coup at Twelve Winds, demonstrating that the fortress projects power well beyond its walls. Under the matriarch Modest Mary, the Gate continues to burn, bleed, and breed nightmares that even Old York's hardened gangs prefer to avoid.
