Lenore

"Either you control the mind or you become the mind." Lenore says this to everyone who asks about her work, and she says it with the calm certainty of someone who has watched the second option happen. She stands tall, dark hair and dark eyes, striking in a way that has nothing to do with beauty and everything to do with the fact that she seems to dare anyone nearby to challenge her. Most people do not.
The voices started when she was a child, near the Overgrowth. Her dead sister's voice first, then others, whispering secrets that no living person should have access to. Her family, Pure Bloods with a reputation to maintain, tried to pretend it was not happening. Lenore did not cooperate with that plan. She cultivated her abilities in private, telling her family she was studying medicine while she was actually learning how to listen to the dead with increasing precision. The power grew. It became too visible to hide, too unsettling to explain away as academic interest.
How she left the Jindal family depends on who tells the story. One version says the family asked her to go on good terms, recognizing that her gifts made her a liability they could not absorb. The other version says she accumulated enough blackmail on her relatives to force them to pay her off and release her. Lenore has never confirmed either account. What she did confirm, through action, was her decision to renounce the Jindal name entirely. She would carry her own reputation or none at all. The wasteland obliged by giving her one that travels ahead of her like a shockwave.
Now she moves through the southern reaches, the Sunken Saints, the Paradise Isles, with three disciples trailing in her wake. She offers her services to those who can afford them: extracting information from the dead, performing feats within the Mortis Amaranthine that other psions consider impossible or suicidal. Those who have witnessed her work call her one of the most notable and terrifying psions alive. Those who have only heard the stories tend to assume they are exaggerated. They are not.

Personal history

Lenore's abilities manifested as a child near the Overgrowth. She heard her dead sister's voice and other voices whispering secrets that no living person should have known. Her family tried to ignore the abilities. She cultivated them in secret while claiming to study medicine, growing in power until the gift became too noticeable to conceal.
Two accounts exist of how she left the Jindal family. In the first, her family asked her to leave on good terms. In the second, she accumulated enough blackmail to force the family to pay her off. Regardless of which story is true, she renounced the Jindal name and chose to let her own reputation speak for itself. Today she travels the southern reaches of the wasteland, including the Sunken Saints and Paradise Isles, followed at all times by three disciples. She is one of the most notable and terrifying psions in the wasteland, extracting information from the dead and performing seeming miracles within the Mortis. Her teaching is simple: "Either you control the mind or you become the mind."
Pure Blood Gravenaut who renounced her family name and made the wasteland remember the one she kept.
