Pale Horse Pike
The sole remaining road connecting Aysea to the mainland, the Pale Horse Pike stretches from the island's shores through the pine forests of the Barrens all the way to the Delphian Wastes. The road transforms several times along its length, alternating between wide divided highway and rural back road. It passes through dozens of small ghost towns, some hosting small permanent populations, most empty and preserved like museum exhibits. Others have become tiny isolated necropoli where the undead are the only things walking the streets.
Experienced travelers have a saying: "Avoid the wide sections, or you will get sniped. Avoid the narrow parts, or you will be jumped." When approaching ghost towns, travelers must choose between risking passage straight through (hoping to dodge the horde) or going around (risking contact with bandits and raiders who lie in wait along the detours). The Leeds clan under Denny Leeds controls a substantial stretch of the Pike, exacting tolls from friendly or well-armed caravans while often simply robbing less fearsome ones. A Final Knights faction called the Demon's Own hunts the Pike on horseback, raiding traders and mail carriers and leaving no survivors.

Hazards & Traps
The road passes through dozens of ghost towns, some of which have become isolated necropoli filled with shambling dead. Rooftop snipers threaten travelers on the wide sections; ambush parties wait along the narrow stretches. The Leeds clan exacts tolls or simply robs less armed travelers along their stretch. The Demon's Own, a Final Knights faction, raids on horseback with a no-survivors policy. When approaching ghost towns, the choice is between the horde and the ambush detour; neither is safe.
