Sally Ryder

THREAT DESIGNATION: Sally Ryder STATUS: Rising REQUIRED RESPONSE: Watch of the Bone Chapel and Adherents of Betrayal, cooperative action
Sally Ryder started as a member of the Vindles, a southern Diesel Jock raider clan that picked off caravans and rival clans for scraps. She watched her leader turn down ambition the way a cautious man turns down a loaded weapon, and she decided that caution was a disease she would not catch.
She confronted him. He brushed her off. A week later, she and the supporters she had quietly gathered chained the old leader by the neck and dragged him behind her ride until there was nothing left. Then she found him after the grave returned him. And did it again. And again. The lesson was not for him. It was for everyone watching.
Under Sally, the Vindles became something different. Twenty-five grew to fifty. Fifty to a hundred. The rumble of engines along southern trade routes stopped being a nuisance and became a warning. But Sally saw the mathematics clearly: raiding caravans feeds a small clan, not a hundred riders. She turned her attention to settlements. Show up. Present a list of demands. Comply, or be erased from the map. Simple. Brutal. Sustainable.
If that were the extent of it, she would be a problem. What makes her a threat is what came next. Sally studied how Grave Attuned manipulate reality through psionics. She taught herself to create crystals, objects that should not exist, that bend the world around them in useful ways. The crystals work. They also attract the undead, a side effect Sally treats as an acceptable cost of doing business.
Murder Inc's assessment recommends two lines of action: destroy information about the crystals before others replicate them, and curtail the traveling raids before more settlements fall. Both require cooperation between factions, because Sally Ryder is not simply a raider with a big clan. She is a raider who decided intelligence and violence are the same tool, and she is getting better at using both.

Personal history

Sally Ryder was originally a member of a Diesel Jock raider clan called the Vindles, based in the south. She confronted the Vindle leader for lacking ambition. When brushed off, she spent a week gathering supporters, then chained the former leader by the neck and dragged him behind her ride until nothing remained. Then she found him after resurrection and did it again. And again. And again.
Ryder reshaped the clan in her image, growing it from 25 members to over 100. When raiding caravans could no longer sustain that number, she shifted to extorting entire settlements, appearing with a list of demanded supplies and razing those who refused. She then began studying Grave Attuned psionic manipulation, combining cold intelligence with physical brutality in ways most raiders never achieve. She now creates crystals that warp reality but also attract the undead. Murder Inc has designated her a rising trade threat requiring the cooperation of the Watch of the Bone Chapel and the Adherents of Betrayal to contain.
Diesel Jock warlord and psionic experimenter. Her clan of 100 raiders extorts settlements or erases them entirely.
