Savage Angels

The Savage Angels are what happens when beaten religious refugees decide they will never lose again. Formed by King's Court followers who fled the Miami Keys after a devastating war against La Havana commune, the Angels settled in Savage Anna and rebuilt themselves as equal parts religious faction and street gang. Their world revolves around music, specifically the hard rock tradition of the Kings, and everything they do serves that devotion.
They sponsor musicians and bands, organize the largest annual music festival in the region, and book performances as far afield as Peach Tree City. The Road Crew, their enforcement arm, ensures that every musician gets paid and every venue that forgets to pay regrets the oversight quickly. The distinction between patron and predator blurs in Savage Anna; the same people who fund a performer's career will put a knife in a bar owner who shorts the take. Metal chains, darker cloth, and openly displayed weapons are the uniform, and the regalia of the Kings and Queens marks every member.
Mostly Mericans with a scattering of Semper Mort and Retrogrades, the Angels are hostile to La Havana communists on sight, a grudge rooted in the war that drove them from the Keys. Their rivalry with the Mountain Rockers, a splinter faction that rejected the Angels' violent methods, adds a second front to their territorial possessiveness. Savage Anna belongs to the Angels, the music belongs to the Angels, and anyone who questions either arrangement learns the Road Crew's answer firsthand.

History

The Savage Angels trace their origin to the war on the Miami Keys, where King's Court followers and La Havana's Red Star communes clashed over control of the islands. The fighting began when the King's Court shifted from the peaceful influence of the Queens of Soul toward the harder Kings of Rock, raising tensions with the Red Star communities that had previously coexisted with the Mericans. The war ended badly for the Court; the unified Red Star forces wiped out the Merican settlements, and mass graves from the slaughter still lie on the outlying islands.
The survivors fled north to the mainland and settled in Savage Anna, establishing themselves as the Kings of Rock with their Road Crew enforcers maintaining order through violence. The defeat forged the Angels into something harder than the pre-war King's Court had ever been. They swore they would never lose another war, and the ruthless enforcement culture that defines Savage Anna today grew directly from that oath.
