Tasmania
A necropolis island still known by its pre-fall name. The Full Dead and Unborn of Teixiptla have painstakingly rebuilt pre-fall settlements and buildings to near-identical likeness, creating an eerily preserved reconstruction of a dead civilization.
The ports stand almost exactly as they did at the fall of humanity. Their historically unchanging nature made accurate reconstruction possible, and the dead builders took advantage of that stability. Other portions of the island vary in accuracy. Where memories conflict, the reconstruction warps; details that no living mind remembers are filled in with best guesses, creating subtle distortions that make the recreation uncanny rather than perfect.
Some sections of the island have been lost entirely. Earthquakes have cracked the terrain, and rising waters have obscured the original landscape in places where the builders cannot reach. The reconstruction continues only where the land permits it.
The inhabitants have dedicated themselves to this singular purpose: rebuilding what was lost. The Full Dead and Unborn work with a patience that only the undying can sustain, reconstructing buildings one stone and one beam at a time from memories that span centuries. It is a monument to what humanity was, built by things that are no longer human. A dead world rebuilt by the dead, imperfections and all.
