The Mon Corporation
The Mon Corporation is older than the wasteland itself. It existed before the Fall of Humanity, originally dedicated to curing the Infection that was consuming civilization from the inside out. As cities crumbled and members succumbed to the very disease they fought, they passed their research and knowledge to successors, who passed it to theirs, an unbroken chain of inheritance stretching back to a world that no living person remembers. Pre-Fall records are still kept and venerated as precious objects. The mission has never changed. The methods have grown desperate.
Centralized beneath Marshal's Town in a network of reinforced tunnels and laboratories, the Mon Corporation operates behind the facade of the Big House, where upper-floor plant experimentation provides cover for what happens below. Every Strain experimented on has died, typically within minutes or hours. Their largest breakthrough to date is causing a subject to not reanimate as zed after death. The side effect is still death. The Corporation has almost resigned itself to the conclusion that curing the Infection may require destroying everyone currently alive and starting over. Current research focuses on engineering an entirely new Strain free from the Infection, potentially through Remnant breeding programs, a line of inquiry that treats sentient beings as raw material.
Agents are embedded across the wasteland: in the Second Ark in Old York for plant research, within the Sainthood for seed distribution, at Aggieland for genetics, in Skatown's Home of the Mad for Bad Brain disease research, and in the City of the Sunken Saints for Full Dead observation. The Floating Forest in the Arch feeds successful plant experiments to the Seeder in Marshal's Town, which distributes engineered seeds to regional farmland. Most of the wasteland knows the Mon Corporation only as a bar-table whisper, a boogeyman in Misery Bay. Rumors include stolen children, radiation-mutated animals, and an entirely new Strain that walks secretly among the population. The truth, as it usually does with the Mon Corporation, is worse than the rumors suggest.

Structure
The Mon Corporation operates through a series of underground laboratories across the wasteland, centralized beneath the Big House in Marshal's Town. Plant experimentation upstairs provides cover for sentient experimentation in the reinforced tunnels and labs below. The organization maintains agent networks embedded in multiple major organizations: the Second Ark in Old York for plant research, the Sainthood for seed distribution, Aggieland for genetics, Skatown's Home of the Mad for Bad Brain disease research, and the City of the Sunken Saints for Full Dead observation. A Full Dead head experimenter named Julius Grant runs the primary lab operations.
Public Agenda
The Mon Corporation pursues a cure for the Infection that plagues every Strain in the wasteland. Their methods include underground laboratory experimentation, agent networks embedded in major organizations, seed distribution through allied groups, and chemical and radiation experimentation aimed at spurring evolution. The true scope of their agenda is unknown to the general public, who know them only as a whispered boogeyman. The Corporation's research has led it to consider the possibility that saving the world may require destroying every person currently living in it and engineering a new humanity from scratch.
History
The Mon Corporation is a pre-Fall organization that has maintained an unbroken chain of research and knowledge transfer since before the collapse of civilization. Originally dedicated to curing the Infection, the Corporation passed its work and knowledge from generation to generation as cities crumbled and members succumbed to the Infection themselves. Pre-Fall records are still kept and venerated as precious objects.
Over the decades, the Corporation's definition of "cure" has shifted toward increasingly radical solutions. All Strains experimented on have died, typically within minutes or hours. Their largest breakthrough was preventing subjects from reanimating as zed, though the side effect remains death. The focus has turned to Remnants, whose mutations make them promising subjects, and the Corporation has begun breeding programs aimed at engineering a new Strain free from the Infection entirely. The Mon Corporation has almost resigned itself to the conclusion that ridding the world of the Infection may require destroying everyone currently living on it.

Pre-Fall scientists still chasing a cure. The cost keeps rising.
