The Twisted Sisters
The Twisted Sisters operate from ramshackle buildings on the outskirts of Yellstown Settlement, and the town is never quite sure whether to thank them or fear them. Composed primarily of Natural Ones with some Remnants, all adherents of the Tribes of Seasons, the Sisters train constantly as a town guard against the threats that emerge from the Overgrowth.
Their duties cycle with the calendar. In spring, they escort the Elkhorn Deer Wranglers to Big Sky Ranch for the calf capture season. In autumn, they keep watch on the Wayward Sons for signs of trouble. Year-round, they patrol the forest edge to prevent animals from wandering into town. The work is unglamorous and dangerous, and the Sisters approach it with a zealot's dedication.
The darker side of their service is population management. The Sisters recognize that a town needs new blood to flourish, and they sometimes send members out to recruit settlers from beyond Yellstown's borders. They also recognize that some people need to vanish for the town to function better. Troublesome residents occasionally disappear in the night, and the Sisters are the obvious suspects. No one has ever proven it. No one has tried particularly hard.
Some theorize that the Twisted Sisters are a warped offshoot of Murder Inc., left to develop independently for generations. Others claim active ties still exist. The truth is unclear, and the Sisters are not inclined to clarify. Yellstown views them with wary caution, tolerating the nighttime disappearances because the daytime protection makes the town safer than it would be without them.
