Regenerative Critter
Hit it. Watch it stagger. Watch the wound close. Hit it again. Watch the greenish veins pulse brighter as the tissue knits itself back together in real time. Hit it a third time, harder, and the creature shakes off the damage like water and comes at you with the same undiminished force it had at the start. Regenerative critters are the wasteland's answer to the question of what happens when mutation decides durability is more important than speed, armor, or cunning. These creatures heal. Constantly. And the only reliable strategy is to overwhelm their recovery rate with sustained, coordinated violence.
The source of the regeneration is visible: greenish veins trace across the creature's body, pulsing with concentrated Infection. A glow emanates from the chest area, marking a hyperactive heart that pumps the regenerative agent through the system at a rate that defies normal biology. Wounds close in seconds. Severed tissue reconnects. The creature staggers, visibly absorbs the impact, and re-engages before the attacker can capitalize on the opening. Fighting a regenerative critter is a war of attrition, and the creature is built to win that war.
At Nuisance tier, Advanced Healing provides a single full restoration, which already makes the creature more resilient than its ten-point Body suggests. By Hazard tier, three uses of Advanced Healing transform it into a persistent nuisance that refuses to stay down. Menace tier adds Mental Armor and Break, the ability to destroy weapons and equipment. At Catastrophic tier, the Regenerative ability provides a complete mid-fight restoration, Absorb drains health from targets to supplement its own, Critter High Threat Immunities protect against status effects, and Dangerous Grounds contaminates the surrounding area. The Apocalyptic tier adds either Ranged or Melee Damage Reduction (but not both), Friend with Raiders, five uses each of Advanced Healing and Absorb, and enough Spike Damage to punish anyone who gets close.
The absence of armor is notable. No Natural Armor, no Sturdy Critter, no damage buffer at any tier. The regenerative critter does not prevent damage; it negates it after the fact. This means burst damage, concentrated and coordinated, is the counter. Chip damage is functionally useless. If you cannot overwhelm the healing, you are feeding it.

Basic Information
Anatomy
The greenish veins are the most distinctive feature, visible beneath the skin across the creature's entire body. They carry concentrated Infection, the biological agent that drives the regenerative capability. The veins pulse with a visible rhythm, brightening when the creature is actively healing and dimming slightly between injuries. At higher threat tiers, the venous network is dense enough to give the creature's skin a faintly luminous quality even in low light.
A glow element emanates from the chest area, marking the location of a hyperactive heart that pumps the regenerative agent at extraordinary speed. The heart is visibly working harder than normal biology would allow, and the creature's movements reflect this: there is an intensity to its physicality, a sense of a body running at full capacity at all times. Wounds are the most dramatic feature. Cuts seal. Torn tissue reconnects. The creature staggers under a heavy blow, and by the time it rights itself, the damage is already fading into new pink tissue crossed with those same greenish veins.

Biological Traits
Advanced Healing is the signature ability, present at every tier and scaling from one use at Nuisance to five at Apocalyptic. Each use fully restores the creature's health, heals all wounds and limbs, refreshes spent abilities, and grants a period of immunity to further damage. This single ability transforms even a Nuisance-tier regenerative critter into a deceptively persistent threat.
The Regenerative ability at Catastrophic tier and above provides additional full-restoration capability on top of Advanced Healing. Absorb (Catastrophic through Apocalyptic, scaling to ten uses) drains health from targets, meaning the creature can heal itself at the expense of whoever it catches. Spike Damage on brawling strikes scales through the tiers, and Break (Menace through Apocalyptic) destroys weapons and equipment. Bleeding Mark (Catastrophic and above) tags targets for persistent damage, and Death Stalk pursues fleeing targets. Dangerous Grounds at Tiers 4-5 contaminates the surrounding terrain.
The defensive profile is unusual: no armor, no Natural Armor, no Sturdy Critter at any tier. Mental Armor appears at Menace, and Critter High Threat Immunities at Catastrophic. The Apocalyptic tier forces a choice between Ranged Damage Reduction and Melee Damage Reduction. The creature's survival strategy is entirely regeneration-based, which makes it uniquely vulnerable to coordinated burst damage from multiple attackers striking simultaneously.

Behaviour
Regenerative critters are relentless through endurance rather than aggression. They do not need to be fast or clever when they can simply outlast everything thrown at them. The behavior pattern is direct: approach, engage, absorb damage, heal, continue. There is no retreat in their repertoire. They do not disengage when wounded because wounds, to them, are temporary inconveniences.
At higher tiers, the attrition strategy becomes more sophisticated. Break destroys weapons and equipment, degrading the survivors' ability to deal the concentrated damage needed to overwhelm the healing. Bleeding Mark at Catastrophic tier tags targets for ongoing damage, turning the creature's patience into a weapon. Death Stalk ensures that targets who attempt to flee are pursued, and Dangerous Grounds contaminates the surrounding area, adding environmental pressure to the physical threat.
The Tier 5 alliance with Raiders (Friend with Raiders) suggests that Raider factions have found uses for regenerative critters, possibly driving them toward settlements as living siege engines that absorb defensive fire while the Raiders exploit the distraction. Whether this is deliberate parasitic manipulation or opportunistic behavior is not documented, but the combination of a near-unkillable creature and organized human hostiles creates a compound threat that demands coordinated response.
