33 Black

The Final Knights rule through spectacle and pain, but it is 33 Black that watches from the shadows to ensure the old gods never rise again. This is the faith's intelligence arm: a society of spies, bookkeepers, and patient infiltrators embedded so deeply in the power structures of Vegasia and the Big AC that most of their targets never realize they are being observed at all.
Members position themselves as secretaries in government offices, note-takers in council chambers, loyal employees in gambling halls, and even slaves in the households of the powerful. Some families have hosted 33 Black operatives for generations without knowing it. Their mission is straightforward: track the activities of rival faiths, monitor the movements of priests and philanthropists, and report everything to the local Final Knights temple masters. When a religious leader begins to gather too much influence, 33 Black does not strike immediately. They spend weeks, sometimes months, preparing. And then one morning the target simply is not there.
The abducted are drugged, subdued, and delivered to the black priests of the greater temples. What happens after that is not 33 Black's concern. Their work is the watching, the recording, and the vanishing. Led by the Horned Raven, who reports directly to the Soulless Pharaoh, the society has turned its gaze eastward toward Old York and Aysea, seeking new governments to infiltrate and new faiths to suppress. In a city where betting on 33 Black at the right roulette wheel is all it takes to draw the Knights' attention, the line between gambler and operative is thinner than most people realize.

Structure

33 Black operates through decentralized cells, each embedded within existing power structures rather than maintaining a hierarchy of their own. Operatives position themselves as trusted advisors, employees, and household servants within communities, trade centers, and political gatherings. Their infiltration is generational; some cells have maintained institutional access to local governments for multiple lifetimes, inheriting knowledge and contacts alongside their cover identities.
The Horned Raven leads the society and reports directly to the Soulless Pharaoh. Below this apex, individual operatives function with significant autonomy, gathering intelligence, tracking rival faiths, and orchestrating the slow disappearance of religious leaders who grow too influential. The society also oversees arenas and gambling halls in larger settlements, using these venues as natural cover for observation and recruitment.
Coordination between cells is quiet and disciplined. 33 Black rarely acts in haste; the hallmark of their operations is the meticulous preparation that precedes every vanishing.

History

When the Final Knights seized control of Vegasia, 33 Black was already there. Their guerrilla war against the Virtues of the Kings Court helped break the last organized resistance to Final Knights rule in the region. One of their more notable victories was the transformation of the Heart Break Hotel, once a cherished Kings Court site celebrating pre-fall musical heritage, into a place of agony and suffering. The conversion was both strategic and symbolic: what had been a shrine to the old world's art became a monument to its irrelevance.
With Vegasia secured, 33 Black turned its attention to maintaining the new order. They built the intelligence network that ensures no old-world faith takes root in what the Final Knights call their New Gomorrah, a place where the influence of humanity rules above the controlling gods of old. The Horned Raven has since set sights eastward, expanding operations toward Old York and Aysea, carrying the same patient methodology that won Vegasia into new and unfamiliar territory.
