Bastion of Good Faith
The Bastion of Good Faith earned its name the honest way: by cooperating with the Sainthood of Ashes when cooperation was neither expected nor, in the estimation of most observers, likely. The Sainthood needed protection for their seed shipments, hearty stock cultivated and harvested aboard the Second Arc, a half-sunken pre-fall tanker anchored off the shore near the Brokelands waterfront. The Cult provided that protection, and in doing so planted roots in Old York that have since grown considerably deeper than anyone anticipated.
What began as a military encampment and training ground has become something that makes the neighborhood nervous. Through alliances with the Tremors, Papaya Firearms, and the Iron Cross Mercenary Company, the Bastion has accumulated an arsenal that surpasses most standing militaries. Local gangs have noticed. They eye the stockpile and wonder, with increasingly reasonable suspicion, whether a violent purge is coming.
Their suspicion is better founded than they know. Major-General Roger Simzees oversees the Bastion's operations, and beneath the public mission of protecting seed shipments, he runs a quieter program. As each area is re-seeded by the Sainthood and growth begins, Simzees contacts trusted Fallow Hopes members and dispatches them to occupy the new territory. The purpose is threefold: convert travelers, kill the damned, and purge heretics. Every patch of green reclaimed by the Sainthood's labor becomes a foothold for the Cult's expansion. The seeds grow. The faithful follow. And the Bastion's true purpose unfolds one terraformed acre at a time.
