Major-General Roger Simzees

Born in Old York itself, Major-General Roger Simzees carries the Yorker temperament with an uncommon leash on it. Where most Yorkers wear their fury like a second skin, Simzees is calm. Stoic. The kind of man who absorbs provocations that would send others into violence, filing them away behind an expression that gives nothing. It takes substantial agitation to bring the notorious Yorker temper to the surface. Those who have seen it emerge tend not to provoke it a second time.
Simzees oversees the Bastion of Good Faith, the Cult of the Fallow Hopes' military encampment near the Brokelands waterfront. On the surface, his operation is a model of interfaith cooperation: the Bastion protects the Sainthood of Ashes' seed shipments, cultivated aboard the Second Arc and distributed across the wasteland through the Sainthood's Postal Service. The alliance has made the Bastion well-armed through ties with the Tremors, Papaya Firearms, and the Iron Cross Mercenary Company. To outside observers, it looks like a successful partnership.
The reality beneath is colder. Simzees is a shrewd businessman and an even shrewder tactician, and he has recognized that the Sainthood's re-seeding operation creates opportunities that extend well beyond agriculture. As each area is terraformed and growth begins, he contacts trusted Fallow Hopes members and dispatches them to occupy the new territory. Their orders are consistent: convert travelers, kill the damned, purge heretics. Every successful re-seeding becomes a Cult foothold. The Sainthood plants. The Cult inherits. And Simzees, calm and patient, directs the expansion from behind the facade of charitable cooperation.
