The Uprising
The Uprising formed inside the Ironworks itself. It was not imported from outside or imposed from above. It grew from the people the Ironworks exploited: Irons pulled from the factories, Unstable freed from subjugation, and Postal Workers who had been quietly smuggling the enslaved to safety for years. Led primarily by Irons and Unstable, with the Postal Workers providing logistics, communication, and intelligence, the Uprising assembled itself into a network of dispersed cells across multiple settlements.
The coalition accepted members from every Strain. What mattered was opposition to the Ironworks' system of slavery, not what blood ran through your veins. Yorkers, Baywalkers, Sainthood members, and others joined alongside the Irons and Unstable who had the most direct reason to fight.
Outgunned and outmanned, the Uprising could not meet the Ironworks army on open ground. Instead, it relied on skirmisher tactics, intelligence operations, and carefully planned maneuvers. Postal Workers carried messages between cells, and radio broadcasts coordinated the timing of major operations. The Uprising planted false intelligence, sabotaged supply lines, assassinated Ironworks agents, and smuggled refugees out of occupied territory. Every action served a larger plan.
Key figures within the Uprising included Armistice, a former Iron Slave designated 20467 who had become the coalition's master tactician, and Raymore Diggins, a Quiet Folk Postal Worker who served as field operative and advisor. Their partnership, formed when Diggins rescued the half-dead Armistice from the cold, became one of the movement's defining relationships.
One of the Uprising's most significant operations targeted the Ironworks' attempt to transport R.N. Hoover, a weapons designer capable of building a nuclear device, through outlying settlements. Armistice devised a three-month plan: feign settlement loyalty, allow Ironworks occupation, gather intelligence, and then rise up at a coordinated signal to destroy the asset and drive out the occupying force. The plan succeeded, delivering a major blow to the Ironworks' weapons program.
