in EncyclopediaThe biological groupings (Lineages) and subtypes (Strains) that define the survivors of the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Each Lineage contains three Strains with distinct physical traits, cultures, and histories.
Generations of exposure to the Infection, radiation, and the pressures of apocalyptic survival produced distinct lineages: Homo symbioticus, humanity adapted through forced symbiosis with the Infection. Each lineage carries the Infection. Each returns from death. The differences are in how the Infection shaped them and what they lost along the way.
